Training high-level specialists capable of developing a global vision of international security issues.

The International Security and Defence option of the ILERI Higher Degree in International Relations is certified by the diplôme d’État (State Degree) of the Université Grenoble-Alpes: Masters 2 International and European Studies, International Security and Defence option (masters degree).


The International Security and Defence option is intended to train high level specialists capable of developing a global vision of international security and defence issues, combining, with a predominantly legal approach, economic and political studies, in particular including co-operative security of a non-strictly military nature.
Structure of the Masters 2 degree in International Security and Defence

 

The Masters 2 year study in International Security and Defence is a multi-disciplinary course, which covers all issues related to foreign policy and conflicts.
Teaching is delivered over two days a week, with two weeks of intensives classes. This pace of study enables students to study in block or day release mode, or a 6-month placement, running through the course of the academic year.
The year ends with the submission of a professional thesis and a viva examination.

 

Objectives of the course :

  • Lobbying with institutional working groups.
  • Preparation of co-ordination meetings and involvement in consultations and negotiations (bilateral, multilateral, parliamentary, etc…), facilitating co-operation agreements.
  • Drawing up company strategies and contributing to international development.
  • Implementing diplomatic initiatives, crisis management, initiating mediation.
  • Analysis of country risk and creating proposals for the management of risk, monitoring geopolitical developments and elaborating international projects.
  • Becoming a parliamentary attaché, joining an international organisation.
  • Working in the field of defence, deploying specific assets for conflict against terrorism, involvement in security research contexts.

Conditions

The program is open only to lawyers, economists or political science students
Students can enroll  for the exams once their application forms have been analyzed (qualitative and quantitative)

Written exams (general culture, English, law, economy or international relations) and the orals (individual assessment of motivation).
